Storyline Storyboarding for iPhone and iPad · Last updated 11 September 2026
Storyline does not collect personal information, does not use analytics or advertising, and has no accounts to sign in to. Your storyboards stay on your device.
What stays on your device
Everything you make in Storyline is stored locally on your device and nowhere else:
- Your storyboards, their titles, and the order of their frames
- The images you import, copied into the app's own storage at full resolution
- The notes you write against each frame
- PDFs and project archives you export, until you choose to share or delete them
None of this is transmitted anywhere. It is not backed up to any server we operate, because we do not operate one. If you delete the app, this content is deleted with it.
Photos and files
Storyline asks for access to your photo library so you can import frames from it, and can open files you pick through the iOS document picker. It reads only the specific images you choose, copies them into its own storage, and never scans, uploads, or indexes your library. It does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, or location.
The one network connection
Storyline checks for software updates when it launches, using Expo's update service (expo.dev). This is the only network request the app makes. That request includes the app version, the platform, and a randomly generated installation identifier, and — like any internet request — reaches the server with your device's IP address.
This identifier is generated by the app, is not linked to you, and is not used for advertising, tracking, or profiling. No storyboard, image, note, or export is ever included in this request, or sent anywhere else.
What we do not do
- No accounts, sign-ins, or email collection
- No analytics or crash reporting
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
- No tracking across apps or websites
- No selling or sharing of data, because none is gathered to sell
Sharing
Content leaves your device only when you deliberately send it — exporting a PDF, sharing a project archive, or saving a file. At that point it goes wherever you send it, and is governed by the privacy policy of whatever service or app you chose.
Children
Storyline is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
